Powys Profiles
Norman Welch - Dyfed Powys PoliceI’m the Powys Division HR Manager and Chief Inspector and I’ve worked here for 29 years. There is no such thing as a typical day in my role. I deal with a wide variety of tasks from HR issues to firearms operations. One day I could find myself dealing with absence management and careers fairs and the next I could be resuming normal operational police duties. It truly is a varied and enjoyable role. I was attracted to the organisation by the unrivalled variety of work offered as a Police Officer. I also enjoy the sense of well-being I get when dealing with HR matters that are vital to the functioning of organisations. I’m originally from the Crickhowell and Brecon areas, but had always been attracted to the area of Powys. On joining the Dyfed Powys Police, I was initially stationed at Llanelli. I returned to Powys in 1984 and currently reside in Newtown. I really enjoy the responsibility and the variety of work available at Dyfed Powys Police. There’s also an excellent career structure here and you always get a strong sense of community pride and belonging. |
